Grant Woods 76 Oblong, Illinois died Sunday March 17, 2002 at 9:35p.m. at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong. He was born in Martin Township in Crawford County, Illinois on February 14, 1928 and was the son of James L. Woods and Dortha E. York. On September 20, 1989 he married Frances A. Ikemire who preceded him in death on July 1, 1991. Grant retired from L. S. Heath & Sons & Pepsi as a serviceman. Grant was known for years as the "Pepsi Man". He was a Navy veteran of WWII and a member of Berlin Congegational Christian Church rural Oblong. Fishing was his hobby. He loved to catch, clean and give to people, but did not like to eat fish. Grant was a member of Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932. Grant donated most if not all his military memorabilia to the Robinson V.F.W. Military Museum.

Grant is survived by a brother and sister-in-law James & Margaret Woods Jr.; 4 sisters and brothers-in-laws Helen Parkhill, Louise Waggoner, Charleenese & Dean Boelt and Billie & Bill Cox; 1 uncle Frank York; 1 aunt Mildred York; 5 sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws Priscilla Woods, Lois Woods Nichols, Maymie Ikemire, Dorla & Lloyd Shook and Bill & Teresa Ikemire; several cousins, nieces, nephews and by Tyler, Levi and Cody Yager who were just like grandsons to him. Grant is preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 sister Arleenes Davis; 2 brothers George & Roy Woods; 3 brothers-in-laws Jessie James Davis, Martin "Red" Waggoner and Alrex Parkhill.

Burial will be in St. Valentine Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois.
